October Plant of the Month: Sansevieria

The Sansevieria is a tall, elegant indoors plant. Most plants have a scientific name and a more common, everyday name. Sansevieria is no exception to this; in fact, an interesting thing about Sansevieria is that it has many commonplace names. The other names: mother in law’s tongue, snake plant, snake tongue, devil tongue, jinn’s tongue and bowstring hemp. If you hadn’t figured it out already, Sansevieria is shaped similar to a tongue.

The plant comes in a variety of shades and varying heights. Some of the varieties that we use for our interior plants at Interiorscapes include Black Gold, Laurentii, Dwarf Laurentii, and Robusta.
