Introducing Green Roof and Green Wall Services
Interiorscapes, Inc. is delighted to offer green roof consultation, design, installation and maintenance. Because Interiorscapes has always been an environmentally conscious company, the inclusion of green roof and living wall services seemed like a natural progression. We make it a priority to stay ahead of the technological advances in green building.
Green roofs are essentially an extension of a roof whereby a growing medium is placed over a roof with the proper waterproofing and drainage systems. Green roofs positively impact the surrounding environment by improving air quality, reducing the urban heat island effect, managing and filtering storm water and improving the aesthetics of urban areas by adding amenity spaces.
A green wall is a vertical planting that can exist either inside or out. Green walls have gained massive popularity in large urban areas due to their space-saving design and greening effect. Many systems for green walls exist and Interiorscapes has researched them all and can provide valuable consultation services. For a unique way to showcase plants, green walls cannot be beat. Interiorscapes has already installed several green walls in the Birmingham area.
Interiorscapes entered into a 12-month partnership with UAB and we were closely involved in a research project that collected data on energy efficient roofs and green roofs. We have tested different products in our region to better understand how species and soil aggregate mixtures will react in our specific climate. Interiorscapes is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) as well as the Green Resource Center for Alabama. In addition, we sponsor the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA).
The staff of Interiorscapes has traveled around the country looking at both intensive and extensive green roof systems and innovative green wall projects.
