Living Wall Installation
Last year, Interiorscapes, Inc. installed a living wall at the Toyota Manufacturing Plant in Huntsville, Alabama as well as a living wall at the main Interiorscapes, Inc. office in Birmingham. These were two of our first living wall projects and we believe they showcase many of the things we love about the various living wall products on the market.
Living walls offer unique way to showcase plants and give you all the benefits of greenery in a workplace (i.e. increased productivity and employee satisfaction) in a new and unexpected way.
These walls are also a must in terms of space saving design. There are many different types of plantable wall products on the market but they are all great ways to get the "green" effect in your facility without devoting massive amounts of space.
One type of wall we have had particular success with is the Architectural Supplements Living Wall. These walls provide easy installation and maintenance and to ultimately give clients a superior look for a competitive price.
These living walls, like many new projects, were a learning experience for Interiorscapes. The original plant material in Huntsville was affected by the power outages after the devastating April storms in Alabama. The weeks without power effected the irrigation system and the plants struggled without water and light. After the storms new, hardier plants (main photo above) were installed in a brand new Architectural Supplements system and are now flourishing on the site. The desired design was a tree shape that we also replicated at Interiorscapes, Inc.
At our main office, we went through an experimentation phase to help us define what types of plants worked best in the wall medium. We are devoted to this beautiful and functional way to display plants!
